Riverway Toddler Lagoon closed for repairs and upgrades

Date published: 1 June 2018

The Toddler Lagoon at Riverway will be closed from today, as local contractors complete repairs and upgrades.

The repairs will include the resealing of the Toddler Lagoon and installing synthetic grass in the play area.

The Toddler Lagoon is expected to remain closed throughout June and re-open in July, after works have been completed.

The upper and lower Riverway Lagoons will remain open during the closure of the Toddler Lagoon.

Infrastructure Committee Chair Councillor Mark Molachino said the upgrade will make the lagoons even more popular with locals and visitors.

“The Riverway Lagoons provide a fantastic, family friendly environment and these repairs and upgrades will make them even better,” Cr Molachino said.

“The synthetic grass will be installed to create a safe and cool environment for toddlers to play in.

“Council wants to ensure the facilities at Riverway are the best possible for local families.”

Temporary fencing and signs are in place to advise the public the Toddler Lagoon will be temporarily out of action while the repairs take place.

As part of the works, the boulder sculptures known as Smarteez will also be removed from the Toddler Lagoon area.

Local Councillor Verena Coombe said contractors would work to reduce any inconvenience for local families.

“The Toddler Lagoon is popular with families but these works are necessary to make the facilities at Riverway even better for locals,” Cr Coombe said.
