Gift your pet a free microchip this Christmas
Date published: 11 December 2020
Pet owners could save themselves the cost of microchipping by taking advantage of Townsville City Council’s free microchipping day.
Council staff will be microchipping registered dogs or permitted cats for free on Wednesday 16 December at the Animal Care and Adoption Centre.
Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Margie Ryder said this is the perfect opportunity for families to save some money during the silly season.
“Christmas can be an expensive time of the year for families across the city, and free microchipping is a great way to spoil your furry family members on us,” Cr Ryder said.
“A microchip is the best way to ensure your pets can make it home if they do become lost – especially during the predicted storms – and shows them how much you love them.
“The format of our free microchipping days has changed to a booking system to manage numbers during COVID-19 and spaces are limited, so I urge residents to book now.”
To book your free microchipping appointment call Townsville City Council 13 48 10. Early registration is encouraged as there are limited spots.
