Special Council meeting to discuss Division 10 vacancy

Townsville City Council will hold a special Council meeting tomorrow (Tuesday 8 December) to discuss filling the Division 10 councillor vacancy.
The meeting will be held from 3-4pm and will be livestreamed on Council’s website as per COVID-safe guidelines.
Mayor Jenny Hill said it was the next step in complying with the amendments to the Local Government Act 2009.
“Queensland Parliament last week passed amendments to the Local Government Act 2009,” Cr Hill said.
“Council will hold this meeting to decide its approach to filling the Division 10 vacancy in line with the legislated requirements for filling the role.”
The Division 10 position was made vacant when former councillor Les Walker was elected state member for Mundingburra.
