Free dump weekend to begin tomorrow!

Date published: 22 October 2020

Townsville City Council is reminding residents to take advantage of the free dump weekend that begins Friday 23 October and finishes Monday.

The four-day program has been scheduled to provide an opportunity for the community to clean their houses and yards in the lead up to the cyclone season.

Townsville Water and Waste Committee chairperson Russ Cook said this is the perfect time to get the spring cleaning finished.

“For the next four days, Council’s waste facilities will be open for free during their normal operating hours for domestic waste,” Cr Cook said.

“We’re encouraging the community to get into their yards and houses and do their spring clean-out and declutter their properties ahead of the wet season.

“With the program running over four days, there is plenty of time for residents to get out to one of the waste facilities and avoid paying.”

Cr Cook said residents wanting to avoid any queues over the weekend could take advantage of free recycling and green waste disposal any time.

“Council offers free recycling and green waste disposal at all of our waste facilities year round, so no need to come along during the free dump weekend if only need to get rid of items that fit in those categories,” he said.
