Bloom to serenade Townsville with Eva Cassidy favourites

Renowned Australian singer Bloom is bringing her talents to Townsville’s Civic Theatre for a one day-only performance of Bloom Sings Eva Cassidy.

The celebration of the American folk, jazz and blues musician this Wednesday is part of the Civic Theatre’s Morning Melodies series, bringing timeless music performed by touring and local artists to Townsville audiences.

For Bloom, the chance to sing through the late Cassidy’s songbook was impossible to pass up.

“There was something so honest about the way she sang - just a guitar, a beautiful voice and pure emotion. She had this incredible gift of taking songs people already knew and making them feel deeply personal,” she said.

“As a singer, she's been a huge inspiration to me for years, so it's a real privilege to celebrate her music and hopefully introduce it to new audiences.

“We'll be performing many of the songs people know and love, including Fields of Gold, Songbird and Over the Rainbow, in an intimate concert that celebrates incredible acoustic renditions and heartfelt storytelling.

“If you're looking for a moment to slow down, reconnect with beautiful music and maybe even leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived, I'd love to see you there.”

Councillor Liam Mooney said this show was a reflection of Council’s commitment to attracting high-calibre performers to Townsville.

“Bloom is a highly celebrated musician who has sold out shows right across Australia and New Zealand, so it’s fantastic to have her joining our Morning Melodies line-up,” Cr Mooney said.

“I’d really encourage anyone looking for a great way to spend their Wednesday morning to grab tickets to this show – it’s sure to be a fantastic performance.”
