King tides expected from Saturday

Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of king tides expected from Saturday.

The king tide is forecast to reach 3.70m at 8.09pm on Saturday, followed by further peaks of 3.88m at 8.56pm on Sunday, 3.94m at 9.44pm on Monday, 3.89m at 10.33pm on Tuesday and 3.74m at 11.24pm on Wednesday.

Council recommends residents in areas prone to minor flooding during king tides take necessary precautions.

Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.

Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
