Hard Waste Collection & Tip Voucher Program
From 3 August 2026 eligible residents will have the choice between one kerbside hard waste collection or two tip vouchers each financial year, at no charge.

As part of our strategy to provide sustainable and long-term waste management solutions, we are pleased to provide a range of waste management services to our community, which include:
Free Domestic Green Waste Disposal
It's free to throw your green waste at our transfer stations and landfill all year-round^!
Free Domestic Recycling at all Transfer Stations
We encourage you to recycle the following items at any of our transfer stations for free, year-round^.
- car batteries
- clean metals and cardboard**
- gas bottles (up to 9kg)*
- mixed recyclables from your yellow lid bin
- TVs, computers and printers (up to 20 pieces)**
- used oil (up to 20L).
Free Tip Weekends
Held annually, this Council initiative is a great opportunity to clean up around the house and garden.
Household rubbish and items are accepted at all transfer stations free of charge over the Free Tip Weekend.
Kerbside Hard Waste Collection
Free Kerbside Hard Waste Collection is available for all residents over a nominated period.
Fortnightly Collection of your Recycling Bin (yellow-lid)
Recycling bins are collected fortnightly.
If you need to dispose of your recyclable waste before your scheduled collection, you can also take it to any of our waste facilities for free.
Weekly Collection of your General Waste Bin (red-lid)
This service accommodates the removal of your general household waste, on a regular weekly basis.

AusAlert will be ready to use in October, but before it launches, the system needs to be tested across Australia. On Monday 27 July 2026 at 2pm, a test alert will be sent to your mobile device.
North Queensland Ceramic Awards - Call for Artists
