Lego fun comes to life at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery

Date published: 6 May 2016

Perc Tucker Regional Gallery will showcase the colourful fun of Lego once again, but with a new and exciting twist.

The Lego Portraits Workshop will give visitors a chance to create their very own Lego portrait with the assistance of staff and local artists.

The workshops are to be held every Saturday from May 7 until July 9 with crowds expected to flock to the gallery work space following the huge popularity of the Perc Tucker’s last Lego exhibit which broke attendance records for the gallery.

Coming off the back of the 2013 exhibit and series of workshops, this load of rectangular brick fun is expected to produce all kinds of weird and wonderful creations by Townsville’s budding artists of all ages.

Community and Cultural Development Committee chair Cr Colleen Doyle said the feedback from the 2013 exhibition was so positive that it was a great opportunity to attract people back into the city with another Lego-themed activity.

“People of all ages, not just kids, absolutely love Lego and the workshops will allow them to get their creative hats on by making portraits with the building blocks,” Cr Doyle said.

The one-hour free workshops will run at 10am, 11.30am, and 1pm every Saturday for 10 weeks on the corner of Flinders and Denham streets.

Workshops are free, however, bookings are essential as places are limited.
