Pie House challenges businesses to support Christmas appeal

Townsville’s gourmet pie business Pie House is challenging other local businesses to raise the most money for this year’s Mayor Christmas Tree Appeal.

Pie House, which has helped raise money for the past three years, will again assist the appeal which helps local families in need over the festive season.

This year the business that raises the most will win a radio advertising package donated by 4TOFM.

Mayor Jenny Hill said she was grateful for businesses like Pie House who are opting to be a part of the corporate challenge.

“We hope the challenge inspires other businesses to get on board as well to help us meet our goal of raising $110,000 this year for families doing it tough,” Cr Hill said.

“We’re looking for fun, unique ways for businesses to get involved and help raise money for the appeal.”

Pie House owner Lara O’Kane said she was proud to support the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Appeal through their yearly pie and sausage roll appeal days.

“We’ll be real contenders for this corporate challenge as we are giving even more this year by donating $1 from every pie, sausage roll and donut,” Ms O’Kane said.

“Our exact appeal dates are yet to be set but will be in November, so stay tuned!

“We’ve had great support from the community in the past and we hope to get lots of hungry people through the doors again this year.

“I challenge other businesses to get on board with the corporate challenge as it’s a fantastic way to give back to the community and share the love at Christmas.”

All businesses can register their support for the appeal at christmasappeal@townsville.qld.gov.au for their chance to win the advertising package.
