Switch + Win! recipients get councillor call-up as Round 2 opens

Twenty Townsville households will soon enjoy a welcome cash-boost, with the winners of first round of Townsville City Council’s Switch + Win! eNotices Competition recently drawn.

Prize-winners from across the city received a call from their local councillor last week with the good news they had won a $250 Visa gift card.

Round 2 of the competition – which aims to encourage Townsville households to make the switch from mail to email for rates and utilities notices – is now open and running until 23 November.

Ratepayers who make the switch from printed rates notices to eNotices during this period are eligible to enter, as are those who have already made the switch.

Another 20 winners of $250 Visa cash cards, two from each division, will be drawn at the end of November.

Townsville Acting Mayor Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said Council was encouraging the take-up of eNotices in a bid to save ratepayers money and reduce its overall carbon footprint.

Currently more than 60,000 paper rates and utilities notices are issued twice a year, at a cost of around $200,000 per annum.

“The cost to print and post hardcopy rate notices is quite significant and is ongoing, and it’s an area we have identified as an obvious cost-saving that can be of benefit to everyone,” Cr Greaney said.

“These costs can be reduced, and possibly one day eliminated, through the take-up of eNotices and that’s why we are encouraging the community to consider this option.

“eNotices are not only more cost effective, but they are also more sustainable and secure – you no longer need to wait and wonder when the postie is going to drop off your letter, you can receive your notice as soon as they are issued by Council.

“Making the switch is easy, just jump onto Council’s website, fill out your details and we’ll do the rest.

“If you’ve already made the switch to eNotices, you can enter the draw too by filling out the form on Council’s website.”
