TLDMG moves to alert as rainfall decreases

Date published: 28 March 2025

The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) has moved to alert as rainfall reduces across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised that the risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding has reduced across Townsville.

TLDMG Chair Andrew Robinson said residents should still stay informed as rainfall was expected to continue throughout the weekend.

“Residents should listen to advice and remain aware. We are expecting to see more rain during the next couple of days, but it is not expected to be as heavy as it has been during the past week,” Cr Robinson said.

“Remain careful when driving and walking in and around areas that have been affected by rain, as there may still be debris and mud, as well as displaced wildlife. Remember, if it’s flooded, forget it – never drive through floodwaters.”

Beaches at The Strand, including the Rockpool, Pallarenda, Rowes Bay and Five Mile Beach remain closed to the public.

Sand and bags are still available at:

  • Lou Litster Park, 30 Boundary St, Railway Estate
  • Council Depot Ross Dam Access, Ross Dam Access, Kelso
  • Corner Bruce Highway & Mount Low Parkway, Mount Low
  • Bluewater Community Centre, 14 Forestry Rd, Bluewater.
