Next trip to the tip, sort and save
Everything has a place at Council’s waste facilities to be reused, recycled or recovered, with no-charge drop off points for accepted recyclables and green waste.
Domestic disposal fees are charged by load size, meaning you can save on fees by sorting your load before you visit and using these no-charge drop off points (for eligible items) to reduce your load size.

Load Size Categories
- Small Loads: up to 50 kg
- Medium Loads: up to 250 kg
- Large Loads: up to 400 kg
- Bulk/Weighted Loads: pay per tonne

Steps to help you save, time and the environment
Step 1: Sort Your Load
Separate these items into groups before you arrive at the tip to make drop off easier:
- Clean cardboard (flatten boxes and remove any packing materials)
- Metals
- Electronic waste (up to 20 pieces)
- Green waste
- Gas bottles (up to 9kg)
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Used motor oil (up to 20L)
- White goods
- Car batteries (lead-acid)
- Residual waste
Going to the Hervey Range facility?
You can sort even further. These additional items also have no-charge drop off points:
- Reusable items like toys, appliances and furniture can be rehomed at the Tip Shop
- Polystyrene
- Paint (up to 100L in containers of 20L or less)

Step 2: Pack Smart
Following these packing tips will help you save time when unloading at the tip:
- Flatten cardboard boxes and remove any packing materials
- Pack your load in distinct groups for easy offloading
- Pack bulky items last, before securing your load
