Townsville Citylibraries are free to join, and open to anyone living in Queensland.
Proof of identity with name, and current address must be shown. If you have no proof of address, you can still join, and if you can’t visit one of our libraries we have online-only membership.
People under the age 16 years of age require a parent or guardian to take responsibility for their account.
Membership allows you to access to a wide range of resources, services, and spaces.
You can place a reservation in the online catalogue and use our digital services, including downloading e-books, audiobooks and entertainment. Membership also provides access to free online learning, study assistance and databases. Library members can book a computer or a meeting room. You can join online however upgrading to full membership allows you to borrow physical items from any Townsville Citylibraries service branch, including the 24/7 Reservation Locker.

You may borrow up to 80 items at any time, including a maximum of:
40 DVDs/CDs
10 eBooks and eAudiobooks

The amount of time you can borrow for varies and is:
4 weeks for books and CDs
2 weeks for magazines, DVDs, eBooks, eAudiobooks, and Library of Things items.
Yes, you can renew online through My Library, over the phone, or in-branch.
Physically borrowed items can be renewed twice unless they have been reserved by another member.
Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy reminder for your convenience. Please return or renew items if you receive a reminder.
Charges may be incurred for damaged or lost items.
Library privileges, including borrowing, will be suspended for customers who owe fees.
Yes, you can reserve items either:
Online by logging into My Library on the online catalogue
By phone
In person via our friendly branch staff
Yes, you can:
Members can use a public computer for one hour each day
Members are only able to borrow a laptop for one hour each day
You will receive a notice via the preferred method you have selected when joining the library.
Overdue notice is sent one day after the due date
Two (2) weeks overdue: Final notice is sent. If the items are not returned within one (1) week of this notice, the items will be declared as lost.
Three (3) weeks overdue, a notice will be generated indicating the amount payable including the original cost of the item.
Customers may take requests for the purchase of items not held in the collection. Use the 'Suggest a Purchase' form to let us know the details and it can be considered for purchase for our collection.
Where a decision is made not to purchase the item, the requestor will be advised and where possible offered an interlibrary loan.

your password can be reset by selecting ‘Forgot your password?’, entering your details as requested on the screen. Your borrow account must have an email address
If this is not successful or your email is not connected to your account, visit your preferred branch of Townsville Citylibraries and present your ID to reset your username and password.
