Planning now part of one-stop customer service centre

Residents can now make planning and development enquiries at new, convenient customer service facilities at the Townsville City Council’s administration building at 103 Walker Street.

The new Planning and Development service counter has opened for business as part of a one-stop shop customer service centre in the city.

Council’s new counter service will assist residents with planning enquiries and viewing of files. Facilities also include rooms where council officers can meet with members of the public.

Planning and Development Committee chairman Cr Tony Parsons said the revamped service brought Planning and Development services into the one centralised customer service location.

“It makes good sense and it’s far more convenient for the public to have council’s customer service activities together in a central operation,” Cr Parsons said.

“Previously planning had a separate service desk, which has operated in the former Commonwealth Building next door for the past six months during renovations of the admin building.

“During that time the council revamped the customer service area to provide a centralised operation that can accommodate all council related enquiries.”
