Echlin St quarry site works underway

Drilling and blasting to remove rock from the former Echlin St quarry site will begin today.
The work will prepare the site for two future water reservoirs as part of the CBD Utilities Upgrade.
The first blast is scheduled between 1.30-4pm with subsequent blasts to occur every two to three weeks until early 2017, weather permitting.
Traffic control will be in place to assist traffic movement through the West End site with up to 10 B-double truck movements an hour anticipated during this phase of the project.
Departing trucks will use Francis and Cowley Streets to access Ingham Road and inbound trucks will access the site via Echlin St.
