Water infrastructure works may cause service disruption

Critical work on a water main will result in some water service interruptions to residents in Alligator Creek, Julago and Nome on Wednesday night.

A new intersection in the Elliot Springs housing estate needs to be completed and as part of the project a 500mm water main must be lowered.

The work will be carried out at night, from 9pm, on Wednesday February 21.

Townsville Water and Waste General Manager Scott Moorhead said the work was necessary but Council crews would try to minimise the impact on local residents.

“The work will be carried out late in the evening to reduce the impact as much as possible for residents,” Mr Moorhead said.

“It’s expected that the works will take about 8 to 10 hours to finish.

“Council understands this work may inconvenience residents but it is necessary to cater for future growth in the area.

“Council would like to thank all residents for their patience and understanding during the works on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.”
