First Community Council to be held on Wednesday

Townsville City Council will be holding its first Community Council meeting at the Clubhouse on the Green at Erskine Please, Burdell on Wednesday.

Division 2 Councillor Paul Jacob said holding meetings in the suburbs will make it easier for residents to ask questions and stay informed about what’s happening in their area.

“These meetings are an open invitation for residents to ask questions to keep up-to-date with projects around your area,” Cr Jacob said.

Cr Jacob said the Open Council initiative will allow residents to have their say, which will help with the Council’s decision making process.

“I am encouraging residents of Division 2 to participate in our next Community Council meeting - we really value the input of our local community for our upcoming projects,” Cr Jacob said.

The Mayor, Committee Chairs and key staff will also be in attendance for residents to ask questions on any topics they wish.

“Residents will get the opportunity to question a range of matters from when mowing happens in their local parks all the way through to the pipeline, they will get their answer”, Cr Jacob said.

“It is a family friendly event so bring the kids along for a free sausage sizzle. There will be Storytime for the kids at the mobile library and pop-up art exhibitions.”

The Community Council public forum runs from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
