All Townsville City Council staff took A Moment for Safety today.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the safety of staff and community members is a key priority at Council.
“This is a Council initiative to acknowledge the importance of safety in the workplace and ensure the welfare of our team,” Cr Hill said.
“We are all responsible for each other’s safety in the work place so everyone gets home safe at the end of each working day.”
Council CEO Adele Young said Safework month is a great time to reinforce safety messages at Council.
“Today’s event is an opportunity for us to reiterate what safety means to us here at Council,” Ms Young said.
“A huge focus of the reforms and the transformation package was to highlight crucial importance of safety to our people.
“We want everyone to take a moment to consider whether or not we are doing our daily tasks safely for the health and safety of our team members and our community.
“Whether it’s assessing the risks prior to conducting a task or taking a moment to ask someone if they are OK – these moments help us to be healthy and safe at work.”
