Strand Rock Pool closed

The Strand Rock Pool is closed until further notice, following the detection of an algal bloom.
Townsville City Council crews detected the Trichodesmium Algal Bloom during routine maintenance today.
The Rock Pool has been drained and Council crews will assess the algal quantities in the Bay – where the water for the Rock Pool is sourced from – tomorrow morning.
When the algal quantities in the Bay decrease to a safe level the Rock Pool will be refilled.
