Dozens of local residents affected by the unprecedented monsoon will receive a little bit of luxury after a generous donation of 50 care packages created from donations made by individuals across the country.

The packages were donated by Teresa Hope, an Independent Consultant with The Body Shop At Home™, and will be distributed through UnitingCare Community – which is working to support community members through the recovery process.

The care packages include moisturisers, lotions, shower gels, soaps, bath bombs, deodorants, body wash, make up and skin care products.

Townsville Local Recovery and Resilience Group Chair Deputy Mayor Les Walker said the community was coming together to help residents affected by the unprecedented monsoon.

“Recovering from this natural disaster will continue to take time for many residents and families,” Cr Walker said.

“One bright spot has been the generosity of locals, businesses and people from right across the country who have been so considerate and kind by donating to help our community recover.”

Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Cr Colleen Doyle thanked Mrs Hope for her generous donation.

“These care packs will provide a little bit of luxury for residents affected by the unprecedented monsoon,” Cr Doyle said.

“We welcome every donation whether it is money, products or even someone’s time, which can be used to help with the recovery effort.”
