Council holds digital forums for potential suppliers

Local businesses now have the opportunity to digitally connect with Townsville City Council’s procurement team to learn how to become a Council supplier.

Council has moved the forum to online and phone meetings, allowing the process to continue despite current physical distancing restrictions.

Governance and Finance Committee chairperson, Councillor Kurt Rehbein, said the process for a local business to get involved was simple.

“We have an online booking platform through EventBrite that allows a business to sign up to a 30-minute session with a procurement team member,” Cr Rehbein said.

“These sessions can be really helpful for a business that would like to become Council suppliers. Our team will explain how the quoting and tendering process works, the requirements of being a supplier, and upcoming opportunities for local businesses.”

Cr Rehbein said engaging local suppliers was a longstanding Council commitment.

“Council is dedicated to supporting local businesses as much as possible, which is why it’s important that we give as much information as we can,” he said.

“We’re especially keen to see local business owners sign up for these sessions considering the economic impact COVID-19 has had on Townsville.”

You can register for a 30 minute session every Tuesday and Thursday up until 30 September.
