Minor Protection and Resilience Works

Council is undertaking minor beach protection and resilience building works at the end of Cooldetta Street.

This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment towards environmental management, which has identified the need for maintenance works to enhance community assets and maintain open spaces in good condition, supporting regional growth.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • remove the existing damaged beach access barrier and install a fit-for-purpose, secure gate system

Council staff will oversee and manage any environmental impacts resulting from these operations.

If you visit or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • temporary closure of a section of the open space, as indicated overleaf
  • increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour.

Works in this area are required to protect historic and ongoing dune renourishment at Big Beach from motorcyclists driving over the dune ridge – creating a weak point in the dune.
