Vegetation Recovery Works

Townsville City Council is undertaking vegetation recovery management works along the Ross River adjacent to the Townsville Recreational Boating Park, South Townsville.

This project forms part of Council’s ongoing commitment to environmental management and addresses the need for vegetation recovery works to mitigate the impacts of recent weather events and improve the resilience of the Ross River and its tributaries.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • retain informal fishing areas
  • remove invasive plant species, with all cleared vegetation mulched for reuse in future Council projects
  • undertake revegetation using local native estuarine plant species.

Council staff will oversee water quality and manage any environmental impacts resulting from these operations.

If you live near or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movements
  • increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour.
