Wastewater Pipeline Installation

Townsville City Council is in the final stages of planning the delivery of a new sewer rising main (wastewater pipeline) to service the Animal Care and Adoption Centre, located along Tompkins Road in Shaw. This infrastructure upgrade is part of Council’s broader investment in water and wastewater systems, contributing to the city’s $352 million capital works program.

As part of these works, Council will:

• install a new underground wastewater pipeline
• construct a new wastewater pump station
• trenchless crossing of Shaw Road to establish sewer connections
• testing operations and site remediation.

• construction machinery and vehicle movement
• increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
• temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.
