Wulguru Wastewater Infrastructure Resilience Program – Stage 1

Townsville City Council is in the final stages of planning the construction of a new, larger diameter sewer pipe on Wright St, to redirect wastewater from Glenlyon Drive, Powell and Neelsen Streets in Wulguru.

This will increase capacity of the network, reducing both the volume and frequency of wastewater overflows during wet weather events.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • install a new underground sewer line
  • conduct testing operations and complete site remediations.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and increased vehicle movement
  • higher levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, reduced speed limits, minor delays, public transport access and on-street parking closures.

Council will notify impacted properties at least seven days before work begins.
