Riverbank Stabilisation Restoration
Council is undertaking erosion remediation and environmental restoration work along the riverbank sections at Rossiter Park in
Aitkenvale.
This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment towards environmental management, which has identified the need
for restoration works to mitigate the effects of erosion and enhance the riverbank’s resilience.
Works will include:
- weeding, mulching and minor reshaping of eroded riverbanks to reflect natural waterway design principles
- extensive native tree plantings along the riverbank to deliver bank stability
- Council staff will oversee and manage any environmental impacts resulting from these operations.
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:
- construction machinery and vehicle movement
- increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour
- temporary pathway closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.
This project is proudly funded through the Reef Guardian Councils program and delivered in partnership with Reef Assist Partners and Townsville City Council.
