Pedestrian Refuge

Council is undertaking operational road maintenance along Freshwater Drive between Lord Howe Promenade and Estuary Parade in Douglas.

This project is part of Council’s annual Operational Roadworks program, which aims to maintain our Council controlled road network to ensure the community’s transportation needs are adequately met and continue to support the growth of our region.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • construct a centre median pedestrian refuge, including associated line markings
  • install concrete ramping and footpath connections, matched neatly to existing infrastructure.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.
