Roadworks

What works are coming up?
Townsville City Council will be undertaking roadworks on five key roads in Nelly Bay, Magnetic Island as part of its annual Roadworks Program:

  • Mandalay Avenue – Friday, 18 July
  • Hurst Street – Friday, 18 July and Saturday, 19 July
  • Yates Street – Monday, 21 July
  • Compass Crescent – Tuesday, 22 July
  • Nelly Bay Road – Sunday, 27 July – Tuesday, 31 July

This project supports Council’s commitment to a well-maintained road network, meeting community transport needs and promoting regional growth.

What will the works include?
As part of this project, Council will:

  • Road Surface Restoration: Damaged sections of the road will be resurfaced with new asphalt
  • Line Marking: Line markings will be reinstated in areas where they were removed during construction.

What does this mean for me?
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • Construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • Increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • Temporary traffic changes, including lane closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits
  • Council may request residents to relocate vehicles.
