Roadworks and Services Upgrade

Townsville City Council is continuing the delivery of the Murray Street Roadworks and Services Upgrade between Gregory and Victoria Street, North Ward.

This project is part of Council’s Capital Works program, which ensures community transport, stormwater, water and sewerage infrastructure continues to meet the needs of our growing region.

As part of this project, Council will:

• repair and replace the top layer of the road surface to improve its condition and extend pavement lifespan
• renew and replace existing water and wastewater pipes to improve service reliability and reduce the risk of future disruptions.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

• construction machinery and vehicle movement
• increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
• temporary traffic changes, including lane and on-street parking closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.

Please be advised there will be a short pause in construction from 30 March to 6 April 2026 for the Easter holiday period.
