Tree Maintenance

Council’s Principal Arborist has recently undertaken an inspection of all trees located within the Walker Street car park (section fronting Walker Street), Townsville City.

Maintenance work will be carried out on all designated trees within the highlighted section. This includes the removing identified branches and associated foliage to prevent obstruction or hazards to vehicles and pedestrians, and to support the long-term health of our urban tree canopy.

Works will include removal of identified tree branches and mulching of removed material. Council arborists will oversee all landscaping maintenance to ensure tree health, reduce risk to infrastructure, and maintain community safety.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movements
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibration
  • temporary traffic changes, including partial car park section closure, minor commuter delays and reduced speed limits.

The affected section of the car park will be closed from 7am and is scheduled to reopen by 11am, or earlier if safe to do so. The remainder of the car park will remain open outside the designated work zone.
