Council is responsible for the prevention and management of Invasive Biosecurity Matter in Townsville. This involves implementing the Townsville Biosecurity Plan, establishing practices to prevent the introduction of new pests and strategies to eradicate existing pests in small numbers. It also includes taking measures to contain established pests in Townsville, liaising with landholders, and enforcing the Biosecurity Act 2014.
The Biosecurity Plan for Townsville is under development and the Draft Plan is available for download.
The Townsville Local Government Area Pest Management Plan will be referenced until the Townsville Biosecurity Plan is finalised.
