Brave, bold and brilliant.
These are the words that judges have used to describe the six winners of Townsville City Council’s short story competition.
Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Councillor Colleen Doyle said more than 150 entries were made into the competition across the adult, young adult and children categories.
“It was a great response from our community and showed how much people enjoyed the Festival of Stories,” she said.
“The judges worked hard to choose a winner and runner up for the three categories.”
Cr Doyle said it was a great way to celebrate the creative talent in Townsville.
“We want to foster the skills we have in the community,” she said.
“Running competitions like this is just one way to provide a platform for emerging writers in our regional city.”
The winners will be part of a Short Story Competition presentation morning tea this Saturday 31 August from 10am at Thuringowa Library.
