Coastal Management Works

Council is undertaking coastal management works, which involve reshaping the sand along the foreshore that is most vulnerable to erosion. This work also includes enhanced maintenance for the beach access paths along the foreshore from Rowes Bay to Pallarenda.

This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment towards environmental management, which has identified the need for coastal management initiatives to address and mitigate the effects of erosion caused by recent weather events.

As part of this project, Council will

  • undertake placement of sand to the most vulnerable sections of the foreshore for better stability and to protect assets
  • Council staff will oversee and manage any environmental impacts resulting from these operations.

If you are visiting or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • partial beach closure as indicated overleaf
  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations.

Project funded by Townsville City Council.
