Ross River Erosion Remediation Works

What works are coming up?
Council is undertaking erosion remediation works along the Ross River, located within the Townsville Recreational Boating Park at the end of Fifth Avenue.

This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment towards environmental management, which has identified the need for erosion remediation works to mitigate the effects of recent weather events and enhance the resilience of Ross River for the upcoming wet season.

What will the works include?
As part of this project, Council will:

  • install small amounts of rock to protect the riverbank from erosion
  • retain informal fishing areas
  • oversee and manage any environmental impacts resulting from these operations.

What does this mean for me?
If you live near or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour.

Funding
Project funded by Townsville City Council.
