Engineering Renewal Works

Council is undertaking engineering renewal works including associated infrastructure maintenance on the Ross River Dam spillway gates, in Kelso.

This project is part of Council’s annual infrastructure maintenance program, which aims to maintain our Council controlled assets including water networks to ensure the community’s needs are adequately met and continue to support the growth of our region.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • remove and replace the hydraulic rams that control the dam’s spillway gates
  • undertake a detailed assessment of the gates and associated infrastructure and carry out remediation work to ensure the dam remains safe and operates optimally.

If you visit or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • elevated work platform in operation, construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • public access to a portion of the dam, including the stairs leading to the spillway, will be temporarily restricted.
