Retaining Wall Stabilisation
Council plans to improve the stability of the existing retaining wall bordering properties 2, 4, 6, and 8 Yarrawonga Drive.
Works will involve inserting several pins (otherwise known as soil nails) into the wall and applying shotcrete to its exterior for increased support.
Council plans to restore the surface using a 'mock rock' finish, similar to the recent repairs to retaining walls in Orana Court, Castle Hill. The accompanying photo is for illustrative purposes only.
During construction, traffic closures will occur daily during working hours, 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
A detour will be in place to divert traffic via alternate access if required.
As part of this project, Council will:
- Install soil nails into the existing retaining wall
- Restore the concrete retaining wall face.
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:
- construction machinery and vehicle movement
- increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
- temporary traffic changes, including lane and road closures, detours, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.
This project is funded by Townsville City Council.
