Stoney Creek Erosion Restoration

Townsville City Council is undertaking erosion control and environmental maintenance along the bank of Stoney Creek, adjacent to
Marina Drive in Bushland Beach.

This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment towards environmental management, which has identified the need for restoration works to mitigate erosion and strengthen the creekbank’s resilience.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • undertake detailed reshaping of the eroded creekbank to reflect natural waterway design principles
  • carry out extensive earthworks and erosion mitigation along the creekbank to improve and maintain bank stability.

If you live near or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour
  • temporary single lane closures, access track closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.

Council advises that, to ensure community safety, no boat traffic will be permitted upstream of the works zone during work hours.
