Riverside Green Open Space Renewal – Stage 2A
Council is continuing the renewal of this open space with the installation of a new junior play area, picnic tables, shade structures and landscaping at Riverside Green in Douglas.
To facilitate progress on this renewal project, please be advised that the main off-leash dog park will be temporarily closed as indicated below.
Short-term closure of the main off-leash dog park will commence on Monday 15 December 2025 and is expected to take three (3) days to complete. Short-term closures will be in effect 24 hours a day, Monday through to Wednesday.
Please be advised that the senior playground adjacent to these works will need to be temporarily closed for a short period to allow remediation of the playground’s softfall ground covering. Once complete the playground will re-open for full community use.
Short-term closure of the senior playground will commence on Friday, 19 December 2025 and is expected to take one (1) day to complete, Short-term closures will be in effect from 6am to 6pm Friday.
This project is part of Council’s commitment to providing parks, sporting fields, recreational areas, and inspirational gardens that enhance the health, wellbeing and enjoyment of our community.
As part of the dog park closures, council will:
- install two fit-for-purpose shelters and associated furniture on the concrete slabs that were laid within the first closure.
As part of the senior playground closure, Council will:
- remove and replace damaged sections of the playground softfall within the senior playground area.
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:
- construction machinery and vehicle movement
- increased levels of dust, noise and vibrations
- safety fencing, pedestrians and traffic management
- short-term closure of the senior playground. Once works are complete, the playground will re-open
- short-term closures of the main off-leash dog park to accommodate construction activities as folllows:
- main dog park closed 15 to 17 December 2025
- please be advised that the small dog park will remain open throughout the upgrade works.
