Riverside Green Open Space Renewal – Stage 2A

Council is continuing the renewal of this open space with the installation of a new junior play area, picnic tables, shade structures and landscaping at Riverside Green in Douglas.

To facilitate progress on this renewal project, please be advised that the off-leash dog parks will be temporarily closed as indicated below.

Short-term closure of the off-leash dog parks will commence from Wednesday 12 November 2025 and are expected to take two (2) weeks to complete.  Short-term closures will be in effect 24 hours a day, Monday through to Friday.

This project is part of Council’s commitment to providing parks, sporting fields, recreational areas, and inspirational gardens that enhance the health, wellbeing and enjoyment of our community.

As part of the dog park closures, council will:

  • excavate garden beds, plant new trees and vegetation, and adjust irrigation in the small dog park
  • remove existing furniture and concrete slabs, then construct new paths, excavate garden beds, plant new trees and vegetation, and adjust irrigation in the main dog park.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • short-term closures of the off-leash dog parks will be in place to accommodate construction activities
    • small dog park: closed 12 to 14 November 2025
    • main dog park: closed 17 to 21 November 2025
