Minor Infrastructure Works

What works are coming up?
Townsville City Council is investing $352 million this year and as a part of this commitment, Council will be undertaking major infrastructure cleaning at the Sister Kenny Playground on The Strand.

This project reflects Council’s ongoing dedication to building a Well-Managed City, ensuring that Council-controlled community spaces are effectively maintained to meet the evolving needs of our community and support the growth of our region.

What will the works include?
Short-term minor works are quick fixes or detailed cleaning activities designed to make areas safer, more functional, and visually appealing. These works may include:

  • repairing footpaths, installing signage, improving drainage, roadworks, landscaping, replacing damaged fencing and cleaning playgrounds.

What does this mean for me?
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary closure of the playground for the duration of the works.
