Drainage Works

What works are coming up?
Council is undertaking drainage improvement works within the stormwater easement between Pomelo and Merivale Streets. These works are required to ensure the direction and flow of stormwater is appropriately managed and able to effectively drain to its outlet on Merivale Street.

This project is part of Council’s Capital Works program, aimed at addressing structural defects and improving drainage within our stormwater networks. The objective is to enhance safety, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

What will the works include?
As part of this project, Council will:

  • Clear the existing area and establish a stormwater pipe alignment path connecting existing stormwater pipes.
  • Reshape the general area to improve local drainage.
  • Reinstate any close by items such as fencing affected by project
  • Establish a small laydown area within the general area of Merivale Street.

What does this mean for me?
If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary traffic control will be minimal, and only be in place for deliveries, which is not expected to delay local traffic.

Funding
Project funded by Townsville City Council.
