Blackspot Roadworks
What works are coming up?
Council is undertaking roadworks on Sooning Street, between the boundaries of Kirk Street and Osborne Court in Nelly Bay. The works include the installation of a top road hump designed to enhance road safety.
This project forms part of Council’s annual Roadworks program, which aims to maintain or improve our Council controlled road network. The program ensures our community’s connectivity needs are met and continues to support the growth of our region.
What will the works include?
- construct a top road hump within the road corridor and minor roadworks
- reinstate Sooning Street works zone to restore functionality and appeal
What does this mean for me?
If you work in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:
- construction machinery and vehicle movement
- increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
- temporary traffic changes, including pathway and on-street parking closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits
Council advises that this project will require single lane closures within the works zone. Traffic lights will be in place to control traffic movement.
Funding
This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government Blackspot program – an Australian Government road safety initiative, that aims to improve road safety and delivered in partnership with Townsville City Council.
