Bypass Installation Works

Townsville City Council will soon be undertaking planned works in Bolger Bay to install a bypass component aimed at improving the long-term reliability of water infrastructure on Magnetic Island.

During this scheduled period of isolation, water access will remain uninterrupted. However, Council kindly asks residents to be mindful of their water usage during this time.

While there is sufficient water stored to meet community needs, this request is a precautionary measure to help ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Operation by the Townsville City Council Water team include:

  • isolation of the DN375
  • valve configuration to supply water to the residents
  • installation of a bypass on the DN375 water main
  • structurally stabilising the bypass using supports
  • reinstating the DN375 water main.

If you live in or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary traffic changes on The West Point Road, including lane closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.

Project funded by Townsville City Council.
