Lighting Upgrade Works

Council is preparing to upgrade the Dean Street Carpark lighting with environmentally sustainable, energy efficient lights. This project will improve safety and reduce the car park’s environmental footprint.

This project is part of our annual electrical maintenance program, which aims to maintain our Council controlled lighting assets to ensure the community’s connectivity and safety needs are adequately met and continue to support the growth of our region.

Works will include:

  • carpark separated into two sections to allow parking throughout works
  • installation of new energy efficient lighting
  • removal of old lighting and reinstatement of lighting poles.

To ensure the work is carried out safely and efficiently, the car park will operate with the following temporary conditions:

  • Tuesday, 3 June – Wednesday, 4 June
    • Section 1 will be closed for work
    • Section 2 will remain open and free for parking
  • Thursday, 5 June – Saturday, 7 June
    • Section 2 will be closed for work
    • Section 1 will remain open and free for parking
  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, and vibrations
  • temporary parking changes, including section closures, minor traffic delays and reduced speed limits.

Project funded by Townsville City Council.
