Landscaping Maintenance

Council is conducting the works below to improve stormwater flow in the Macarthur Drain stormwater drainage reserve in Annandale:

  • rebuilding the recently installed rock levy bank near the playground at Macarthur Park that was damaged by the recent rain event of February and March this year
  • removing the line of trees in the middle of the drain that creates turbulence in heavy stormwater flows and causes erosion
  • replanting 29 trees on the banks of the drain.

As part of this project, Council will:

  • use natural rock materials to stabilise eroded stormwater drainage banks
  • remove trees planted on the mound in the middle of the drain, as they obstruct water flow and contribute to ongoing erosion
  • replace trees impacted by recent weather events with extensive native tree planting:
    • Melaleuca leucadendra 'Paperbark' 200mm
    • Cupaniopsis anacardioides 'Tuckeroo' 25L and 45L
    • Terminalia sericocarpa 'Damson Plum' 300mm
    • Harputia Pendula 'Tulipwood' 25L.

Trees being planted: Melaleuca leucadendra 'Paperbark' 200mm Cupaniopsis anacardioides 'Tuckeroo' 25L and 45L Terminalia sericocarpa 'Damson Plum' 300mm Harputia Pendula 'Tulipwood' 25L

If you live near or are travelling through the area, you may experience:

  • construction machinery and vehicle movement
  • increased levels of dust, noise, vibrations and occasional odour.
