Townsville City Council’s Public Affairs Team has scooped two more awards at the Local Government Association QLD (LGAQ) 2018 conference – showcasing our local talent is the best in Queensland.

Council was awarded the Best Creative Campaign for Litter-ally Improving Waste and the social media officer – Connor Wallace – was the dual recipient of Best Communication and Best Digital professional.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said these awards highlight the talent in Council’s team and our city.

“Townsville’s talent is recognised as the best in Queensland and the country with our in-house produced campaign around Council’s waste reforms – Litter-ally Improving Waste,” Cr Hill said.

“The concepts were created internally and we even used our own garbage truck driver in the TV commercials – and he’s become a local celebrity in his own right.”

Cr Hill said Council was focused on communicating effectively with the whole community.

“We’re very lucky to have a dedicated and talented team working to ensure important information is delivered in interesting and engaging ways – particularly using humour,” Cr Hill said.

“Our social media platform has really grown over the past 12 months and we are reaching more residents than ever before.

“Townsville has such a huge amount of creative talent – it’s fantastic to have that reflected in our Council employees.”
