Councillors' Discretionary Grants

This grant assists Councillors to respond to requests for financial assistance from local community organisations to undertake an initiative that serves a community purpose.

Up to $250 (excluding GST) is available per request. Please note there is a limit to the amount of funding available for these grants. Once this amount has been reached, no further grants will be awarded until next financial year.

Purpose

The purpose of this grant is to provide a quick response to local requests for small amounts of financial support from community organisations.

Eligibility

A community group or resident will be eligible to apply for this grant if they meet the following criteria:

Applicants must reside or primarily provide services in the Townsville Local Government area.

All initiatives for which funding is sought must be conducted within the Townsville Local Government area and/or be of benefit to the Townsville community.

You must have successfully acquitted any previous grants from Townsville City Council.

You must be free of debt to the Townsville City Council.

Contact a Townsville City Council Councillor to discuss your initiative. The Councillor will discuss the next steps with you to progress your application.

Assessment Timeframes

This grant has a short timeframe for assessment of 2 weeks from date of application to notification of outcome.
