All Abilities Playground at Riverway

The Riverway All Abilities Playground – as its name suggests – is Townsville’s primary multi-disciplinary play facility. The playground has been designed to challenge and engage users of all abilities, offering a range of natural and built elements to encourage all types of play. Some of the playground features include a fenced play area, an accessible fort with play panels, accessible raised sand pits, a specialised adult swing seat, a sensory garden, a variety of pathway surfaces, balance beams and musical instruments. Accessible toilets are also available nearby at the Riverway Lagoon area. Facilities include an All Abilities Playground, fenced play area, swimming lagoons, off-street parking, concrete pathways, toilets, sports fields, skate park, lighting, BBQs and seating areas. NOTE: Riverway All Abilities Playground was impacted by the 2019 Townsville floods and some of the above features may currently be unavailable. Planning is underway for the future redevelopment of this facility. |

Aplins Weir Rotary Park

Aplin’s Weir Rotary Park playground was upgraded in 2019 and features a variety of inclusive play options including a Liberty wheelchair swing (key access is required) and an in-ground carousel, which can be used standing, seated or can be wheeled directly onto in a wheelchair. Play panels and a musical xylophone are accessible via concrete pathways and rubber softfall. The park also offers swings, rockers and climbing play equipment along with a garden pathway for the explorers. On the opposite end of the fenced play space is a sand play area, which offers a more secluded space for the less adventurous users. Facilities include a fenced playground, on-street parking, concrete pathways, accessible toilet, shaded seating areas, BBQ and sports fields. |

Charles Moroney Park

Charles Moroney Park offers a variety of play options for users of all ages and a wide range of abilities. Some of the inclusive features include extensive concrete pathways and rubber softfall in the main play area, which provides access from the parking areas to the playground facilities. The play equipment includes pieces with WIFI interactive storytelling capabilities that are accessible from ground level, carousels with bench seats and back rests, a “you and me” swing seat which allows carers to swing with their children, units with stairs and handrails for assisted access and units that can be accessed by adults for assisted use. The park also has a toilet facility near the playground. Facilities include junior and senior playgrounds, off-street parking, concrete pump track, exercise course, fenced off-leash dog park, concrete pathways, sports fields, sports courts, lighting, BBQ and shaded seating areas. |

Corcoran Park

Corcoran Park offers a range of play opportunities for users of all ages and a wide range of abilities. Some of the inclusive features of the park include an extensive concrete pathway network connecting the on-street parking to the park facilities, a wheelchair accessible multi-user electronic game (the Neos 360) a range of climbing, sliding, swinging, spinning and rocking play equipment including some play panels accessible from ground level. Numerous other play features are available to challenge a range of ages and abilities. Facilities include a fenced playground, electronic play equipment (Neon 360), basketball and netball courts, exercise circuit, sports field, BBQ, shaded seating areas and on-street parking. NOTE: Toilets are not currently available at this park, but are planned for future development. |

Peggy Banfield Park

Peggy Banfield Park is a multi-use recreation space that offers a little bit for everyone. An inclusive feature of note is the junior playground which is accessible via concrete pathways leading onto rubber softfall and includes a fenced space with ground level play panels among slides, rockers and swings. There are numerous other play features throughout the park including a sit-in spinner, seesaw, play towers, climbing ropes, a basketball court and a skate park. Facilities include junior and senior playgrounds, fenced junior playground, shaded seating areas, toilet, off-street parking, concrete pathways, BBQ, basketball court, sports field, skate park, exercise trail and fenced off-leash dog park. |

Sister Kenny Park on The Strand

Located to the west of the Water Park on The Strand, Sister Kenny Park offers a fenced junior playground area suitable to a range of users. The playground is fully fenced and accessible with concrete pathways throughout including a concrete ramp up to a small slide. The park has various play elements accessible from the ground on rubber softfall as well as sand play areas, rockers and spinners for the more able-bodied child. Facilities include playgrounds, fenced junior playground area, on-street parking, concrete pathways, toilets, BBQs and shaded seating areas. |
